Final Update 10/14/2024: Both TPA 1 and TPA2 data centers have power restored and are no longer running on generators. Staff have started to safely return to offices ensuring that normal operations continue.
Update 10/10/2024: We are pleased to inform you that the storm has passed, and both our TPA1 and TPA2 data centers remained operational throughout the event. There were no disruptions to our services, and all Hivelocity staff members are safe. While we are grateful for this outcome, our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by the storm. We continue to monitor the situation to ensure ongoing stability. Thank you for your trust and support during this time.
10/7/2024: We are closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Milton and the storm’s impact to the Tampa area, where our TPA1 and TPA2 data centers are located. We have initiated our emergency action plan, which ensures diesel fuel delivery for as long as necessary and having staff in place for the duration of the storm.
Safety is our top priority, which is why we are restricting physical access to our TPA1 and TPA2 facilities for our colocation customers beginning at 12pm ET Tuesday. Access will be restored once the inclement weather has passed and conditions are safe, likely Thursday afternoon or Friday. Custom build orders for dedicated servers in TPA1 and TPA2 may experience delays as we look after the safety of employees, and we will have our hurricane support team onsite. With the exception of limiting physical access to our TPA1 and TPA2 facilities, we intend to operate business as usual over the next 24-48 hours.
We will have our Hurricane team on both TPA1 and TPA2 sites for the duration of the storm, which includes our support team for your servers, and our facilities team for monitoring the facility (the roof, the walls, the windows) as well as the generators, cooling, and power. We’ve stationed additional fuel trucks for the generators in both facilities in case of prolonged power outages and barricaded all windows. Each Tampa facility has diverse and redundant transit providers in case of transit outages. Our private dark fiber ring is between TPA1, TPA2, and the IX downtown. In the unlikely scenario, that all transit providers go down at a facility, we will have connectivity through the fiber ring. If you have any questions or concerns please open a support ticket.
What this means for you: Continue with business as usual. We are committed to providing you with the highest quality services possible and we’ve spent years ensuring that rain, wind, or shine your servers stay online with connectivity. Nothing about this promise will change. If you wish to take precautions, rapid restore can be added via the portal to include backups to your service—it’s always a good practice to have backups in place.
We appreciate the trust you place in us and are committed to helping you stay informed. If you need any additional assistance please open a support ticket or call us at 888-869-4678.
