Driven by consumer demand and the rigors of the server environment, Intel is now shipping its DC S3500 Solid State Drives. The engineers at Intel have designed this new SSD product line for the usage patterns and applications found in the datacenter.

While Hivelocity has long-utilized the Intel 520 series SSDs, we are now stocking the DC model disks for our new dedicated server deployments. Compared to the 520 series, the new DC S3500 offers increased random-read IOPS as well as more consistent performance curves for more predictable performance under sustained loads.

Increased on-board cache and improved manufacturing processes make the DC S3500 series ideal for RAID arrays in typical Web Server applications. As with the 520 series SSD drives, the DC S3500 series features enhanced power-loss data protection. Furthermore, the new third-generation controller found within the DC S3500 exhibits much lower read latency over the entire disk than previous models.

When utilized within a RAID array, SAN or NAS environment; the high-capacity DC S3500 drives (>300GB) offer superior specifications with enhanced read/write IOPS when compared to other drives in the same class. Combined with high mean times between failures, the DC S3500 series offers great performance and reliability ready for the cloud and beyond.

Of course, the new DC line is backed by Intel’s iron-clad 5 year warranty. From our experience here at Hivelocity with the 320 and 520 series, we expect the DC S3500 series to offer very good reliability and performance for years to come. Any of our dedicated servers are available with the new S3500 SSD. We currently offer 120GB, 160GB, 300GB, 480GB and 600GB with each dedicated server in our cart.
