Hivelocity will be responsible for the initial setup of the account to ensure proper client access as well as the initial infrastructure monitoring setup and monitoring within the Private Cloud environment.

Hivelocity will provide monitoring and remediation services for the infrastructure and will send non-infrastructure related alerts to the client for remediation purposes.

For clients looking to offload most of the daily management tasks to a service provider, Hivelocity offers an 24x7x365 Advanced Private Cloud option that includes initial solutioning/design and infrastructure setup for VMware (compute and networking, infrastructure monitoring/alerting and SRE support). This option relieves our clients of having to perform ongoing operational actions and frees them up to do what is important to them, focus on their business applications and running their business.

Clients have access to the Cloud Director console to view their cloud environment as well as view resource usage. The client can manage their own applications and data via remote access to the VM(s).

Private Cloud FAQ.

The best fit for Private Cloud are businesses that are looking for:

  • A security-centric model
  • Business continuity and resiliency with backup and recovery availability
  • Need to offload resource management, automation, optimization, and pre-configured services
  • Looking for cost management/fixed vs variable usage fees
  • Want more customization and control
  • Have compliance or regulatory requirements they need maintained
  • Have workloads that are more robust and need flexibility
  • Want service management options: self-managed or fully-managed
  • Considering a tech refresh and/or want a CapEx strategy vs OpEx
  • Want to migrate out of Public Cloud

Private cloud environments are derived from secure and scalable infrastructure, where isolated resources are exclusively used by a single organization. Our platform allows businesses to have complete control over their cloud environment and software, while we manage the hardware. Private cloud leverages virtualization technology to create an organization’s separate, secure, and isolated virtual environment. The hardware and software resources for the organization, such as servers, storage, networking, and security, are abstracted and managed through software.

Steps to help you get started with implementing a private cloud:

  • Begin by assessing your current IT infrastructure and identifying your specific needs and goals.
  • Next, choose a private cloud provider or decide whether to build your own on-premises solution.
  • Collaborate with your IT team and stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan that includes security measures, scalability options, and compliance requirements.
  • Once the plan is in place, proceed with the deployment, ensuring thorough testing and optimization.
  • Finally, provide training for your staff to ensure a smooth transition and effective utilization of your private cloud.

A private cloud is generally more secure than other cloud solutions because it is dedicated to a single organization, eliminating the risks associated with multi-tenant environments. With a private cloud, you have complete control over security measures, allowing you to implement customized policies and configurations tailored to your specific needs. Enhanced data privacy and compliance capabilities further ensure that sensitive information is protected. Additionally, dedicated resources mean reduced exposure to external threats and potential vulnerabilities common in shared environments.

  • Private Cloud is dedicated solely to your organization, providing enhanced control, security, and customization, making it ideal for large enterprises with stable workloads and stringent compliance requirements.
  • Public Cloud is shared across multiple organizations, offering scalability, cost-efficiency, and ease of management. Best suited for small to medium-sized businesses or those with variable workloads.
  • VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtualized server that acts as a dedicated server within a shared hosting environment. It is created by partitioning a physical server into multiple virtual servers, each with its own operating system and resources. Multiple VPS instances can run on a single physical server, each isolated from the others.

Private cloud ensures data security and privacy by providing dedicated resources within a controlled environment that is exclusively accessible to a single organization. This isolation minimizes the risk of data breaches and unauthorized access. With Private Cloud, businesses are able to implement robust firewalls, multi-factor authentication, and regular security audits. Additionally, organizations can customize security protocols to meet specific regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring that sensitive information is protected while maintaining full control over the infrastructure.

Businesses may have entered into a public cloud environment with an incorrect understanding around the cost structures associated with public cloud – believing it is more cost efficient. At first cost is lower, but additional resource investments are needed to sustain public cloud like additional staffing, additional security measures, and constant performance adjustments – all of which greatly increase costs.

  • Increased security due to dedicated resources.
  • Customization to meet specific business needs.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Better performance due to resource control.
  • Scalability to support growing workloads.

Generally, Private Cloud has a higher initial cost due to dedicated infrastructure, but long-term costs may be lower depending on usage, as you avoid ongoing subscription and extended usage fees typical in Public Cloud models.

Private Cloud is ideal for industries with strict compliance requirements such as:

  • HIPAA (Healthcare)
  • PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry)
  • GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
  • ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management)

A Managed Private Cloud is hosted and managed by a third-party provider, while a Self-Managed Private Cloud is managed entirely by your in-house IT team. The choice depends on the available expertise, budget, and the level of control you need.

Private Clouds often offer superior network performance due to dedicated resources and bandwidth. There’s less likelihood of bottlenecks caused by sharing with other users, which can happen in public clouds.

Private Cloud can be customized to handle intensive AI and Machine Learning workloads by incorporating powerful processing capabilities and GPU infrastructure.

Business continuity can be ensured through redundancy, failover systems, and disaster recovery plans within the private cloud infrastructure. Regular backups and data replication ensure minimal disruption in the event of a failure.
